The Meridian Community College golf team held a special signing ceremony on Tuesday afternoon to recognize three of its sophomores that have signed to continue their careers at the next level. Connor Cavin, Ty Medling, and Luther Thompson were the three sophomores that we present at the ceremony to sign their respective scholarships with the college of their choice.

The 2015 sophomore class led the Eagles to a 2014 MACJC State Championship and a 2015 Region 23 Runner-Up finish. The three young men also helped led the team to nine tournament wins in two year and six of those were tournament victories in conference action. The 2015 sophomore class also helped the team win the prestigious Farmers Insurance Team GPA Award by having a team GPA of over 3.00.

Connor Cavin (Baton Rouge, LA) and Ty Medling (Memphis, TN) both inked scholarships to attend William Carey this fall. Cavin was named First Team All-State both years at MCC. He led the team in scoring average both years. Connor was one of only three individuals to qualify to play in the 2014 Division I National Championship. He won the individual title at the 2014 MACJC Event number 4 and has been named to six All-Tournament teams. Cavin tied the school record for low round (65) at his first collegiate tournament in the fall of 2013. Cavin also served as team captain for his sophomore year.

Medling also sports a very impressive list of accomplishments that was highlighted with an individual title at the 2014 Lou Hart Invitational. Medling was also named to five all-tournament teams. He was First Team All-State for the 2013-14 MACJC season and was also team captain for his freshman and sophomore years..

Thompson was the third and final player to sign on Wednesday and he will head north to play next season at Tennessee State. Thompson was named  Second Team All-State this year for his play in MACJC events. He won the individual title at Goosepond GC at a three-team match in the fall of 2014. He placed on the All-Tournament team at the 2015 MACJC event number 3 held at Dancing Rabbit GC.
