MCC Golf Captures Second Straight Tournament Title

The Meridian Community College golf team continued its hot streak on Tuesday by capturing the 2015 Pinnacle Trust Invitational Championship hosted by Belhaven University.

The Eagles finished the two-day event with a total team score of 867 (3-over par) which was 12 strokes ahead of Faulkner. Former Lamar School star Lance Strickland also collected first place honors with a total three-round score of 207 (9-under par) to lead the Eagles. The tournament victory for Strickland also marked his second straight first place finish after winning the MACJC Event #2 last weekend.

Grant Renegar earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team for MCC by placing tied for third with a two-day total of 218 (2-over par), while Camden Backel finished tied for eighth place with a score of 224 (8-over par).

Clayton Gray placed 11th for the Eagles with a score of 226 (10-over par) and Heath Newsom placed 27th with a 244 (28-over par).

MCC will return to action October 3-4 in Wesson, MS to take part in the MACJC Event #3 hosted by Co-Lin at Wolf Hollow Golf Course.
